The new concept unveiled today underlies The Art of Fusion dear to Hublot through a subtle mix of materials and a play on textures and colours which are an invitation to travel. The azure blue of the façades evokes the waves’ and sets the tone. The walls are made of aged-oak wainscoting like the boards of the pontoons. The cord handles symbolize the marine knots and the leather sofas welcome globetrotters looking for new horizons.
The refined windows, melting waxed oak and blue alcantara fabric recall the nautical origins of the brand. Like a small island standing alone from the exhibition space, the selling space is both warm and welcoming featuring an open bookcase, a jute carpet and sand coloured sofas giving travellers the desire to lay their hat for a refreshing stopover away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Created in 2004 by Jean-Claude Biver, Chairman of Hublot and President of the LVMH Group Watch Division, and Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, ‘The Art of Fusion’ highlights one gene which has been intrinsically rooted in the brand’s DNA since its creation in 1980 – Hublot was the first to combine gold with natural rubber. Ever since, this philosophy has brought dozens of new materials to life. Unique and exclusive, some are even patented. Brand new alloys; Hublonium, King Gold, Magic Gold –, the combination of immiscible components including carbon and metal –, the hardest and most scratch-resistant materials – sapphire –, the creation through synthesis of the rarest form of gold on Earth – Gold crystal –, fabrics and fibres – St Gallen embroidery, flax fibre, denim, velvet or woven suit fabric – materials in an array of colours – Texalium®, quartz or even sapphire, materials derived from minerals – concrete – or from animals – leather –.
A dynamic of excellence
These materials are all an invitation into the very heart of the watch; they shape its case and, sometimes, its dial or strap. To realise the full potential of this constant pursuit in R&D, the Nyon-based Manufacture has had its own foundry since 2012, as well as a team dedicated to fusion – the Metallurgy and Materials Department. Hublot is investing in fundamental research by collaborating in particular with the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) since 2010.

Big Bang Meca-10 Magic Gold
Since 2014, two collections have been born from the partnership between Hublot, Italia Independent and Lapo Elkann. Although both of the previous collections were based on the legendary Big Bang Unico model, this time the magic of this wildly creative team was unleashed on the Classic Fusion model. Its name seems to have predestined it for this new special edition: there has never been such a fine example of the fusion of the “classic” and innovation. This was a task that was made-to-measure (no pun intended) for Lapo Elkann who is frequently named ”the most elegant man in the world“ and who has made bespoke designs and customisation his signature. He brought Ferrari’s “Tailor Made” programme to life, and he is continuing and expanding upon the concept with Garage Italia Customs; cars, boats, planes and helicopters, with a unique level of customisation, personalisation and innovative creativity for the whole mobility industry. Lapo also applies this same expertise to the creations that he designs for Hublot and Italia Independent. The House of Rubinacci holds the most beautiful collection of fabrics in its archives. It was here, in the more than 60,000 m2 of precious houndstooth, tweeds and other cloths that Hublot and Lapo Elkann found a collection of tartans – squared coloured wool weaves from the seventies – that they brought back to life by including them in the Classic Fusion as a chronograph.
The new Hublot Manufacture calibre – the HUB1201, whose innovative construction reveals its entire original interlocking power reserve on the dial side – sees its mechanism housed in a case made from Magic Gold, the first scratch-resistant gold and the hardest variety in the world, developed and patented by Hublot with the EPFL five years ago. This watch brings together the very best of mechanics, innovation and materials.
Big Bang Unico Sapphire
For Hublot, it seems there are no limits when it comes to colour. Its application brings depth and distinction to materials. Hublot has now fused sapphire and metals to create a Big Bang case in blue sapphire — marking the first time this colour sapphire has been used in watchmaking. The Big Bang Unico Sapphire made its name in 2016 as part of the sapphire revolution. A year on from this world’s first, the Nyon-based manufacture is celebrating another in the context of its tireless pursuit of innovation and R&D.
Big Bang Sugar skull
The Big Bang Sugar Skull Fluo, the new neon trend icon, is adorned with fluorescent accents. It offers four luminous guipure lace iterations to adorn the wrist. Striking and confidently glamorous, they dress the finest St Gallen embroidery in bright, bold colours. Cobalt Blue, Sunflower, Hot Pink and Malachite Green are the four shades chosen to enlighten and refresh.
To celebrate Ferrari’s 70th anniversary, the Italian marque and its partner Hublot are presenting a new original collection. Conceived with the same approach used for designing a car at the Ferrari Design Centre and integrating Hublot’s watchmaking expertise, the Techframe Ferrari 70 years Tourbillon Chronograph opens a new chapter in the partnership that unites Hublot and Ferrari. The Techframe Ferrari 70 Years is available in three versions — King Gold, PEEK Carbon, and Titanium — each of which is produced in 70 limited editions. It is destined to be a collector’s item.
